Friday, September 3, 2010 Furniture, Cool Leather Sectional

We were perusing through our old copies of Metropolitan Home today--oh man we miss that magazine!

Anyway, as we were looking through the pictures we were struck with how many clean-lined, cool living room scenes we find in Met Home. We thought this leather sectional fits in really well with that look, don't you?

Furniture, Cool Leather Sectional

The sectional is made by Moroni. We love this line. The leather is so supple and soft and comfortable. The construction is really nice too, firm but not too firm...Just the way it supposed to be.

You can find the sectional here. It costs about $5K including shipping, but if you are nice, there a nice coupon that you can use (hint: it's quite substantial).

Email us and tell us you find this item via our blog. We'll email you the secret code.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010 Thom Felicia Furniture

You are probably familiar with Thom Felicia from "Queer Eyes for the Straight Guys".  Do you remember that show?  We kinda miss it from time to time.  We don't know any straight guy who watched it though, only straight girls, hoping to fix up their men...

Anyway, Thom Felicia is getting to be a major licensing house.  He's doing rugs for Safavieh, fabric for Kravet etc.  The latest is a furniture collection from Vanguard Furniture.  It's quite lovely and original.

Take a look:

You can see the rest of the collection here. If you need help with pricing, drop us a line.

Monday, February 22, 2010 Pretty and Chic Furniture for Smaller Spaces

We found this adorable line at the Las Vegas Market a couple of years back and we thought we share it with you.  They make really cute, adorable furniture that are smaller in scale --quite perfect if you have a small apartment or condo to furnish.   The furniture usually comes in neutral colors, which makes it easy to accessorize.  They are quite stylish and inexpensive.

Here are a few samples:

The occasional chair runs about $600, sofa is about $1500, chair about $300, bed about $1600. They have a huge web site that you can browse through here. If you need help with pricing let us know (Sunpan only sells wholesale). Shipping cost for furniture is usually high, so we don't recommend buying just one or two pieces. Usually shipping costs will exceed the price of the item.

Saturday, February 13, 2010 Pretty Cocktail Ottomans

We love, love using cocktail ottomans instead of cocktail tables.  It's a much softer look, plus you have more versatility with it.  For example, if you were to get bored with it you can always upholster it, put nailhead trims around it, change the fabric on it, make it tufted or untutfed...You get the idea.

Here are some that we kinda like from Jessica Charles.  They run between $900-1000 depending on fabric.

This round cocktail ottoman is our favorite.  You can get it skirted, or un-skirted as shown below.

If you like to design your own, Vanguard Furniture has a good program for personalized, customized ottoman. You can find it here.   Contact us if you need help with it.

Tuesday, January 5, 2010 Five Adorable Side Tables

We have this thing for side tables.  They are so functional!  You can put them next to a reading chair, a chaise lounge, or between two occasional chairs.  They make a perfect place to set down a book and a drink.  They are small so it's easy to move them around.  Most of all, they are not too expensive, so you can swap them out whenever you feel like it.

Here are five of our favorites:

This one is from Global Views.  It's about $650.

This one is a new piece from Arteriors.  It's about $800.

This one is also from Arteriors.  It's $500.

This one is from Arteriors as well.  It's $700.

This one is a new one from Global Views.  It's $550. The top is marble.

We'll be putting these up on our site soon (sorry, we say that a lot, but we are just so DARN busy!).  Drop us a line if you need help with it.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009 Really Cute Bed for Kids

The other day we were shopping for a gift for a kid's room, and golly, everything is blue or pink or yellow. What's up with these three colors anyway? Did someone decide a long time ago that these are defacto kid colors and the whole industry just follow suit?

Frankly we're a little tired of pink and blue. Here are some alternatives that we think would be really nice for kids or teenagers. They are great focal points and you can build themes around them...

The furniture is from Guildmaster (we would have listed the link here but it's for the trade only so it won't do you any good, sorry). Prices for the headboards run from $800 for a twin to $1200 for a queen. Email us if you need help.

Friday, November 20, 2009 Colorful Upholstery Furniture from CR Laine

One of our biggest complaints about American furniture manufacturers is how BORING their furniture can be. Year after year you see this same old stuff--they call it classic but we think they are just unimaginative. We're talking about brown, dark wood furniture, heavy upholstery in taupe and cream, plain styling. The sad thing is, 80% of households have this stuff. Why? Because we don't have lots of choices.

So we were really happy to see some colors this seasons from some of the old-school uphoslterers. They are finally getting it! Who wants to be surrounded by drab all the time! Give us some vibrancy and happiness! Give us colors!

Here are some from CR Laine that we kinda like. This company makes great upholstery furniture. Most of their stuff is fairly standard (as you will see from the web site), but here are some jewels:

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 Pretty Chinoiserie Furniture from Guild Master

Going to trade show requires tons of stamina, let us tell you. You usually walk floor after floor of showrooms, and because you don't want to miss everything, you try to stop at almost every single one of them.

Until your eyes glaze over and everything starts to look the same...

At any rate, we saw this line toward the end of our trip at High Point. Although we were dead tired, it caught our eyes and we thought we show it to you. It's Asian and rattan, two things that we normally don't like, but these are done very well.

Here are some examples from the line.

The items run between $1200/per pair for chair to $1800/per pair for barstools. Not too bad for very high quality stuff!

For more information on the line, visit the GuildMaster web site. The site is for the trade only, but it has contact information so that you can be directed to a dealer nearby.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 Five Favorite Round Dining Tables

We love round dining tables, mainly because they are cozy and pretty. People say round tables make for more intimate conversation, but we don't think that's the case. It's not like you can't have an intimate conversation with a square table or a rectangular table!

At any rate, we think round tables are sexier and they fit better in a small room or a kitchen nook. Here are five of our favorites:

This one is a perential classic. It is called a Versailled Pedestal table and it's from Nichols & Stone.
This one is made of solid iron. It's from Noir.
This one has a stone base with a top that can be custom-finished. It's from Hickory Chair.
We love this one. It's from Oly Studio. We sell tons of these. It's fabulous in a black glossy finish. It's from Noir. If you need pricing information for any of the above, drop us a line.

Check our post on some fabulous dining chairs that you can use with these tables.

Monday, August 24, 2009 Chic Furniture from Noir

Being in the decorating business for a long time, we watch many manufacturers come and go. Sometimes it's heartbreaking, especially when a company has been in business for years and years. On the other hand, we also see some companies started out really small, and with sweat and tears and ingenuity, they grow it into something special.

Noir Trading is kinda like that. We first know them as a custom furniture maker. George, who came from Germany, makes the most amazing custom cabinets and furniture around. Then he started Noir Trading a few years ago. At first it wasn't that interesting, to be honest. Just the typical dark wood furniture and Budha--boring Asian import crap, basically. However, in the recent years their quality and style has gone up several quotients. If you like Oly Studio and think it's too expensive (which it is), this might be great alternative.

Here are some great pieces that we just love:

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 Upholstery from Nathan Anthony

We use a lot of Nathan Anthony products for our home staging projects. They are reasonably-priced; the turn around time is pretty fast; and they come up with new stuff all the time.

Quality-wise it's reasonable. We would say that it's in the mid range... It's not super high end. The prices reflect that. It's the kind of furniture you buy when you want to be stylish and happening while you are waiting for the big bucks. Generally a queen bed goes for $1500 or so, and a sofa between $1500-$1800 depending on what fabric you choose.

Here are some of our favorites:

This bed reminds us of the one Charlotte has in "Sex in the City". Remember how she has this beautiful creamy bed with creamy lamps and white roses? That apartment was so awesome...

Isn't this banquet awesome? It's one of those things that works so well in a round room. We probably would break it up a bit though with some chairs.

This bed is a HUGE seller! It's so pretty in person ...

You can browse for most of the collection on Nathan Anthony's web site. You can use their fabrics which are shown on line, or do COM (customer own materials). A good place to browse for fabrics is our fabric store. There are over 100,000 fabric patterns on the site.

Nathan Anthony only sells to the trade though, so if you need pricing & stuff like that, drop us a line...
